Abstract:
The study of the historical pattern of small towns aligns with the trend of urban conservation concepts, and is an important foundation for solving issues such as the lack of cultural characteristics, the disorderly pattern replacement, and the decline of traditional forms. Based on the typo-morphology, remote sensing images and statistical data, this research constructs a mesoscale form research framework, suitable for town groups. Taking the central towns of Zhejiang Province as examples, it explores the transformation types and influencing factors of historical pattern. The results show: 1) The historical pattern transformation can be summarized into block mutation, point evolution, and two types of no change, with different types of composition in each city. 2) The transformation of the historic pattern is related to natural, social, and policy elements. The distribution of types shows a clear spatial pattern, the degree of change is related to the process of urbanization and the rate of population growth, and policies affect the trend of morphological evolution. It provides a reference for application of typo-morphology, study of historical pattern, and urban planning strategies.
