Abstract:
Urban development has resulted in problems such as spatial fragmentation, dysfunction, and cultural alienation. These issues arise due to the disparities between the urban fabric of urban villages and their surrounding areas. This paper introduces the concept of the urban village fabric fracture zone and examines its forms and manifestations through the perspective of urban stitching. Focusing on the three dimensions of spatial, functional, and contextual fabric, this paper analyzes the fractures and problems between the urban fabric of Nanhao Village in Baotou City, Inner Monglia Autonomous Region and its surrounding areas. It proposes design strategies for mending the urban village fabric fracture zone through spatial, functional, and contextual integration. The aim is to facilitate urban renewal, create vibrant public spaces, and provide insights for urban development and village revitalization.
