Abstract: In recent years, co-creation has been continuously enriched and deepened in local planning practices, effectively promoting the development of urban and rural communities. Urban fringe village community in China is a fundamental social unit to promote suburban urbanization and urban-rural integration under the background of new urbanization, and it faces many social problems in the renewal process. This paper takes Caohe Village in Panyu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province as an example to explore implementation problems and planning strategies of urban fringe village community renewal practice in large cities under the mode of co-creation. Caohe Village co-creation workshop was planned to be set up to explore the establishment of the implementation mechanism of co-creation 'vertically to the end and horizontally to the edge'. Regarding the working path, the participation of multiple planning subjects is ensured in various ways at different planning stages, and villagers are guided to recognize and join the village co-creation practice. The study found that the co-creation work of Caohe Village promoted the subjectivity of villagers. However, the village renewal planning stalled because it failed to form a stable planning consensus and continued attracting the participation of planning subjects. The co-creation of urban fringe village community is a gradual process, which requires multiple subjects to explore the implementation path step by step based on local conditions. The planning practice of Caohe Village provides a reference for improving the co-creation and renewal of urban fringe village community.
