Abstract: With the rapid development of social economy in our country, some villages and towns have the problem of insufficient traffic capacity. In order to ensure the rapid development of economy and solve the problem of insufficient traffic capacity, there are more and more projects to reconstruct and expand the original road. However, in the process of reconstruction and expansion, some roads are faced with a long preparation period, but there is urgent needs of the environment improvement on both sides of the road in the near future, where the contradiction between the two is highlighted. Taking Yanhe Road street environment improvement in Fangshan District as an example, starting from the contradiction between road reconstruction and expansion and recent street environment improvement, this paper analyzes how to consider the street environment in the short term in the process of road reconstruction and expansion, and probes into the design strategies of short-term and long-term landscape connection in the process of road reconstruction and expansion from the perspective of plant configuration and regional division, so as to provide thoughts and methods to other similar street renovation projects in rural areas in China in the future.
